Why We Manifest Unwanted Things So Easily (and What It’s Really Showing Us)

When the Universe Takes You Literally and You Accidentally Manifest What You Don’t Want

You know those moments when you think, “Please don’t let this happen” — and then it does? Like the universe had one job… and it was to do the exact opposite of what you wanted.

I had one of those recently at the dentist. But here’s the thing — I didn’t even think, “Please don’t let this happen.” Instead, I imagined something funny, extreme, and a little negative… just for fun. As we sometimes do, we joke, use sarcasm, or visualise a worst-case scenario — harmlessly, or so we think. That day, it got real faster than I expected.

when you say you don't want something but then the universe gives you exactly that... When the Universe takes it literally

But before we get to that part, let me back it up. As I sat in the dentist chair — not scared of the drill or the pain (I mean, I’ve survived worse), but scared of the bill. Honestly, that’s where the real sting usually comes from.

I decided to do something I often do when fear or negative thoughts creep in: I started visualising something positive. I focused on one of my desires, imagining it clearly in my mind. The intention was to redirect my energy away from worry. But I was getting sidetracked and kept dropping my vision — a crucial part of the story.

Then the big drill came out — you know the one. The one that sounds like it’s tunnelling through concrete even though you’re numb. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be funny if it just slightly grazed my lip?” Not a full accident — nothing dramatic, just enough to say, “Well, this isn’t ideal.” Then the dentist, in a panic to avoid being sued, would say, “Don’t worry, I’ll give you and your family free dental care for life.”

And the second I finished that thought, the drill grazed my lip. For real! The dentist stopped immediately, eyes wide: “Oh no! I’m so sorry — it’s just the rubber. No cut, no blood.”

Darn. Free dental for life would’ve been nice. (A girl can dream.)

It got me thinking — how easy it is for us to manifest the wrong thing. I didn’t want that to happen. I was just kidding! And yet… it did. Effortlessly. Instantly.

It left me wondering, and I had to ask my Astral team — why do the things we don’t want seem to manifest so fast, while the things we do want sometimes take forever?

Their answer was a Mike drop.

"Most of You are so used to expecting the worst that it becomes your default frequency. You play out worst-case scenarios in our heads not because you’re dramatic, but because you were taught to be “realistic.”

Humans protect Themselves from disappointment like as if was physical pain they wanted to avoid. You do this by assuming things won’t work out.

So when that energy builds — that anxious, low-level “what if it goes wrong?” vibration — it’s actually quite powerful. Unknowingly You channel your focus, emotion, and imagination into it… and the universe simply responds: “Got it! You’re emotionally invested in that outcome. Here you go.”

Here’s the mic-drop moment: the universe’s moral compass isn’t the same as the societal moral compass. It doesn’t distinguish between what we want and what we don’t want. It just amplifies whatever has the most energy behind it.

That’s why raising your vibration — through healing, clearing, and conscious awareness — matters so much.

In your everyday life, you might notice moments when your vibration feels low:

  • Sadness, anger, or frustration

  • Fear or worry about the future

  • Survivor or victim consciousness

  • Self-doubt or holding onto “what if it fails?” energy

  • Trauma stored in the body

  • Stress, burnout, over-giving, or exhaustion

  • Engaging repeatedly with negative thoughts

Releasing these one by one creates space for better things to flow naturally. The goal isn’t to police every thought — that’s exhausting. It’s to become aware of the energy behind them and then redirect to what you actually want to see, be, have, and feel. When your baseline frequency is lighter, you vibrate higher — and all the good things are right there on that level.

How to Rewire Your Visualisation in the Moment

Even in moments of stress or discomfort (like sitting in a dentist chair), you can consciously redirect your energy. Here’s how:

Practice 1: Create your “Positive Scene Bank.” Write a list of 3–5 things you’d love to manifest — big or small. For each, imagine a short one-scene snapshot as if it’s already happened. You might picture yourself opening a “paid in full” email, laughing with someone you love, or stepping into your dream home.

Practice 2: Swap it in. When your mind starts spiralling into “what if” mode — pick one of those visual scenes and run that instead. You’re not forcing positivity — you’re redirecting focus.

Practice 3: Hold the vision for 17 seconds. That’s all it takes to start shifting your frequency. Even micro-moments of intentional imagination are powerful — because they interrupt the negative loop and remind your energy what to create instead.

November inside EarthSchool is all about releasing the heaviness. We’re focusing on exactly that: clearing old emotional clutter, healing our inner child, and rebalancing our energy — so we can shift out of reaction mode and back into creation mode (in time for the thinning of the veil in December, where we practice manifesting our vision for 2026).

Because if we can manifest what we don’t want that quickly… just imagine how powerful we are when we’re aligned with what we do want.
